"I'm sorry," she whispered, her voice barely above a whisper.
Jack's eyes blazed with fury. "Sorry isn't good enough," he spat. "You made a deal with me. You promised to be with me forever. And now you want to leave me for some mortal?"
Sarah's heart sank. She had known that Jack would be angry, but she didn't expect him to be so furious. She tried to reason with him, to explain that she was torn between her love for him and her desire for a normal life. But Jack wouldn't listen.
"You have to choose, Sarah," he said, his voice cold and hard. "Either you stay with me and embrace the darkness, or you leave me and embrace the light. There is no in-between."
Sarah felt like her world was collapsing around her. She loved Jack, but she couldn't deny that she was drawn to the other man as well. She didn't know what to do.
